Abdel (Abby) Badwi
Chief Executive Officer & Executive Chairman
Mr. Badwi is a geologist and petroleum industry executive with more than 40 years of international upstream experience, leading public and private energy companies with oil and gas assets in many international jurisdictions.
Mr. Badwi is a geologist and petroleum industry executive with more than 40 years of international upstream experience, leading public and private energy companies with oil and gas assets in many international jurisdictions. During this period, Mr. Badwi has completed several corporate mergers and numerous corporate and asset acquisitions and has a strong capital markets following in North America and Europe. Mr. Badwi has been a corporate board member of several public and private companies including Verano Energy in Colombia and Arpetrol Corp. in Argentina; both companies were successfully sold in 2014 and 2016.
Mr. Badwi most recently served as President and CEO of Kuwait Energy, an E&P company with operations in Egypt, Iraq and Oman and successfully led the sale of the company in 2019. Mr. Badwi has previously served as President and CEO of Bankers Petroleum Ltd. with oil production operations in Albania from 2008 to 2013 (and Vice Chairman until 2016), and the company was sold in 2016. Mr. Badwi has also served as President, CEO and a director of Rally Energy from 2005 to 2007, a company with oil production in Egypt and natural gas in Pakistan; he successfully led the sale of the company in 2007.
Mr. Badwi was the Recipient of Albania’s high distinction Presidential Award for Special Civil Merits and the Recipient of the Atlantic Council of Canada’s Award for Corporate Social Responsibility and Economic Sustainability. Mr. Badwi is also a member of the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors.
Suneel Gupta

Mr. Gupta is a senior executive in the international petroleum oil and gas industry with over 30 years of experience and a successful track record of value creation in oil and gas.
Mr. Gupta is a senior executive in the international petroleum oil and gas industry with over 30 years of experience and a successful track record of value creation in oil and gas.
Mr. Gupta joined Bankers Petroleum Ltd. in July 2004 as a founder and held several key roles with the company including President and CEO, Executive VP and COO, VP Production & Operations, VP Business Development and General Manager for Albania. Mr. Gupta has been directly involved in growing the company from 500 bopd in 2004 to over 22,000 bopd by 2014 and more than doubling booked reserves for the assets in Albania. Mr. Gupta introduced and oversaw many key western Canadian operational practices over his tenure at Bankers Petroleum that included horizontal drilling, polymer flooding, and an institutional grade health and safety/field operations program that set international standards for excellence and performance.
Prior to joining Bankers Petroleum, Mr. Gupta held senior positions with several petroleum companies where he was integral to the development of oil properties in international countries as well as in Canada including Husky Energy Inc., Renaissance Energy Ltd., Pinnacle Resources Ltd. and Chevron Canada Resources Ltd.
Mr. Gupta holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in chemical engineering both from the University of Calgary.
Barry MacNeil
Chief Financial Officer, CPA, CGA
Barry MacNeil is a Chartered Professional Accountant who has more than 20 years of accounting experience in public and private practice. He has worked as a corporate accountant for a group of companies involved in sales and services of mining equipment to the international mining industry, as well as a lumber company with export sales to Japan, Europe and Australia.
Barry MacNeil is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of BC with more than 30 years of management and accounting experience in public company, private practice and industry. His previous positions include Director of Public Companies and Non Profit Societies, Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Controller and Accountant. He has experience with international oil and gas, mining, and lumber resource companies in sales, service and extraction.
Barry has been a director and officer of multiple public companies operating in the oil and gas sector, including Trans-Orient Petroleum Ltd. Mr. MacNeil is also currently the Chief Financial Officer of LQWD Fintech Corp. (TSXV: LQWD), and acts as Corporate Controller for TAG Oil Ltd.
Gamal Rezk
VP And General Manager Egypt
Mr. Rezk served as VP of Finance, and then CFO, of Scimitar Production Egypt from June 2006 until he joined TAG Oil in 2020. Prior to that he served as Finance Administration Director at VA Tech Siemens (originally VA Tech Transmission & Distribution Limited) from 1999 to 2006. He has more than 24 years of oil and gas industry experience and is a Commerce graduate from the University of Cairo.
Mr. Rezk served as VP of Finance, and then CFO, of Scimitar Production Egypt from June 2006 until he joined TAG Oil in 2020. Prior to June 2006, Mr. Rezk provided management services for a variety of international companies, including Halliburton and Schneider Electric. From 1989 to 1999 Mr. Rezk was in the Finance and administration division practicing mergers and SAP implementation in Egypt with Halliburton Energy, and attending most of the management skills courses for the leadership program certified by Harvard University. He completed the mini MBA program in Egypt sponsored by University of North Carolina in 2005, and the Certified Management Accounting-CMA Advanced Accounting Systems in Toronto, Canada.
Giuseppe (Pino) Perone

Mr. Perone is a lawyer by background and has extensive corporate experience that stems from practicing as corporate counsel, as well as serving as an executive and director, for various public and private companies in the resource and technology sectors.

Mr. Perone has served as Corporate Secretary and General Counsel of TAG since December 2009. Mr. Perone holds a B.A. from the University of Victoria and an LL.B. from the University of Alberta and has been a member in good standing of the Law Society of British Columbia since 2006.
Samir Abady
VP & Operations Manager Egypt
Mr. Abady has over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry in Egypt, having supervised and managed the drilling of numerous exploration and development wells in the country. His career commenced in 1986 with Khalda Petroleum Company (“Khalda”) as a Drilling Engineer and then advanced to Drilling General Manager in 2009. In 2011, Mr. Abady was appointed as Khalda’s Deputy Operation GM and a board member, and a board member in Tanmia Petroleum Company (went on to serve as their Chairman & CEO in 2017). In 2014, Mr. Abady was appointed as Chairman & MD of an Apache/Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (“EGPC”) joint venture company (Qarun Petroleum Company), and as a board member of Petrojet. In December 2015, Mr. Abady was appointed as Chairman & MD of the Egyptian Drilling Company (“EDC”), and later went on to serve as a board member of EDC and as EGPC’s Deputy CEO for Production and a board member. Mr. Abady was also a non-executive Chairman & MD of Farah Petroleum Company (PetroFarah) and General Manager of National Drilling Company. Mr. Abady obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Suez Canal University in 1986.

Keith Hill

Mr. Hill is the Chairman of Black Pearl Resources Inc. (TSX: PXX) and ShaMaran Petroleum Corp. (TSX-V: SNM), and is currently the CEO of Africa Oil Corp. (TSX-V: AOI). Prior to this, Mr. Hill was instrumental in developing Valkyries Petroleum Corp.
Mr. Hill is the Chairman of Black Pearl Resources Inc. (TSX: PXX) and ShaMaran Petroleum Corp. (TSX-V: SNM), and is the CEO of Africa Oil Corp. (TSX-V: AOI). Prior to this, Mr. Hill was instrumental in developing Valkyries Petroleum Corp. and Tanganyika Oil Company Ltd., both highly successful international oil and gas producers which were acquired by major oil companies. Mr. Hill holds a Master of Science degree in Geology and Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics from Michigan State University, as well as an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Houston.
Shawn Reynolds

Mr. Reynolds is Portfolio Manager of Van Eck Associates Corporation which he joined in 2005. He currently serves as Portfolio Manager for Van Eck’s Global Hard Assets Strategy where he is responsible for company research and portfolio construction.

Prior to joining Van Eck, he was employed as an energy equity analyst covering North American, European, and global energy companies out of New York, Denver, London and Australia with Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse First Boston, Lehman Brothers and Petrie Parkman.
Prior to his career in finance, Mr. Reynolds worked at as an exploration geologist for Tenneco Oil Company. Mr. Reynolds was previously Vice Chairman of Kuwait Energy Company, and a board member of several private Latin American oil and gas exploration companies. He is a member of the board of trustees at Hackensack Meridian Health Hospitals Corp., the Riverview Medical Center Foundation, Trinity Hall, and Former President and current member of the board of trustees at the Rumson Country Day School.
Mr. Reynolds received an M.B.A. in finance from Columbia University, an M.A. in petroleum geology from the University of Texas, Austin, and a B.S. in engineering from Cornell University.

Mr. Hickey is an attorney of the State of California and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. Mr. Hickey brings to TAG over 20 years’ international oil and gas sector experience in M&A, corporate governance, compliance & ethics, and group restructuring and consolidation during his time with the operators Hess Corporation and Kuwait Energy and the service contractors Transocean and Subsea 7. Beginning his career in London, England, Mr. Hickey has since been expatriated to Houston, New York, Kuala Lumpur, Kuwait City and Paris to support growth strategies and implement fit-for-purpose and effective corporate governance and compliance. Mr. Hickey recently acted as Head of Corporate Legal and M&A, and Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, for Roquette Frères S.A., and is currently General Counsel for INSEAD. Mr. Hickey received an MBA from Strathclyde University (distinction) and is a certified CEDR mediator.

Gavin Wilson is an Investment Manager for Meridian Group of Companies, a private investment company, which has a significant shareholding in TAG Oil. Mr. Wilson was the Founder and Manager of RAB Energy and RAB Octane, listed investment funds, from 2004 until 2011.

Mr. Wilson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French History and Civilization.
